KYOTO - NARA - OSAKA

Nara, Todaiji © Nara visitors Bureau

Breakfast at hotel

Leave hotel for Nara by public transportation.
In Nara, begin the day with a visit to Todaiji Temple, which is one of the world’s largest wooden building and home to the Daibutsu, one of the largest bronze Buddha statues of its kind in the world. Around the temple is the Nara Deer Park where visitors can feed the free-roaming deer with biscuits sold in the vicinity. The deers are considered to be sacred messengers of the gods in Shinto religion and thus have been designated natural treasures.

Transfer to Osaka and our last visit for the trip is Osaka Castle, its original construction began in 1583 with the ruins of the Ishiyama Honganji Temple. After the experiences like war, burned-down by fire or lightning and reconstruction, the present main tower of the castle was restored by the donation from Osaka citizens in 1931. The castle was the largest of its time and played a major role in the unification of Japan during the sixteenth century. At night, please enjoy the final night in the downtown of Osaka!

Tokyo

Everything that you have heard about Tokyo is true – and it is not. For if ever there was a city that you could not confine to one definition, this would be it. The never-ending hustle and bustle of the city creates an energy that is quite contagious. One minute you may be elevated 450 metres above ground overlooking Tokyo’s sprawling metropolis, the next you might be cheering on two sumo wrestlers tackle each other in the sumo stadium.Despite the presence of people and stores everywhere, there is an order that allows things to work efficiently, seemingly against the odds. Tradition and technology stand side by side in this city that can be whatever you want to make of it.

Kyoto

Brimming with tradition, Kyoto is the ultimate destination for anybody who wants to soak up time-honoured Japanese culture. Home to 17 UNESCO World Heritage sites, over 1,600 Buddhist temples, and 400 Shinto shrines, this ancient city showcases the heart and soul of traditional Japan. Kyoto boasts an array of world-class gardens, majestic festivals and delicate cuisine, all of which make much of the rhythms of nature and the changing of the seasons. While on first glance visitors may find themselves struck more by the ubiquitous grid like structure of modern metropolitan Japan, a great part of the magic of Kyoto is in picking out its treasures: sacred shrines tucked in among shopping arcades, time-honoured teahouses nestling among modern businesses and the geisha of legend sweeping down backstreets among the tourists and souvenirs.

Nara

Nara, the capital of Nara prefecture, is a small city in the Kansai region. In spite of its size, Nara has a very long and illustrious history, and is an easy day-trip from Kyoto or Osaka. In ancient times, Shinto rites of purity decreed that, with the death of an emperor, the capital must be relocated. So it was around Nara that all of Japan’s original capitals were established between the third and eighth centuries. From 710 Nara was declared the “permanent capital,” only for the Imperial family to be moved 84 years later to what was then called Heiankyo, now Kyoto. Hundreds of serene temples, gardens, and shrines, and a handful of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, remain as elegant testaments to Nara’s ancient status. The most famous attraction is Todaiji Temple, one of the world’s largest wooden buildings of its kind, which houses one of the world’s largest bronze Buddha. Also, Nara Park is one of the must-visit-spots for your favorite photo-shooting. The amazing thing at Nara Park is that more than a thousand wild free-roaming deer live in the park.
